Sri Lanka is a veritable treasure trove of nature, Buddhist shrines, historical landmarks, verdant valleys, tea plantations, spices and tropical wildlife. Its diverse ecology and vivid colours were appreciated by Marco Polo, who referred to Sri Lanka as the most beautiful island in the world.

A luxury holiday is you an enchanting and inspired experience, with the warmth of the local people making you feel at home.

Kandy, the former capital city, is a delightful blend of old shops, cultural sites and touches of bygone times. Set on a beautiful lake, Kandy is home to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic which holds a tooth of the Buddha. Or visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sigiriya Rock Fortress - famous for ancient rock paintings.

The esteemed elephant is the island’s symbol. With many are still used for work in the countryside, Sri Lanka also works to protect the majestic animal with many elephant sanctuaries.

Buddhist festivals abound in Sri Lanka such as the monthly full moon, or ‘poya’, celebration. Shops and banks close, and alcohol is banned in public areas, but hotel guests can make arrangements during this time.

Colombo is perfect for shopping, or follow a scenic trail through some of Sri Lanka’s tea plantations.
